DAVE'S DISNEYLAND CHECKLIST

Must do list (the rides)

bulletRide the Mountains - Splash, Space, & Thunder Mountain   XXX   Yep - Did all 3.  Space Mountain is the best.  November is a bit cold for getting wet on Splash Mountain.
bulletHaunted Mansion - Holiday Overlay - the return of Jack Skellington  X  I think I rode it 3 times and I like the holiday theming better that the regular.
bulletPirates of the Caribbean - Still the best ride both parks   X     Yes.  The POTC changes even made the ride better.  Rode it 3 times I think.
bulletit's a small world - only because the holiday overlay will be in place and ride may be closed down for most of 2008 (rumor)  X    I even rode this 3 times and yes after the holidays the ride will be down until around November 2008.
bulletThe Jungle Cruise....I've never ridden it at night (maybe this time)  X     Took the ride at night and guess what?  It's dark out there.  I thought it would be all lit up.  The only thing that really lights up is the boat that uses spotlights to light up the jungle scenes.
bulletIndiana Jones and the Temple of the Forbidden Eye (best queuing line)  X    I think I rode this on the first day but its a bit hard on my back.  I tried to go back another time but the ride had broken down.  I think it breaks down at least once a day!
bulletStar Tours - dated but still worth it - must of the time you get on without waiting  X   I got on this twice since the lines are usually short unless the park gets packed (which it did).  It's pretty much confirmed that a new and improved Star Tours will show up within the next few years.
bulletI need someone to go on the Tea Cups with me  X   Couldn't find Janeen but Lisa volunteered so spinning was kept to a minimum
bulletMatterhorn Bobsleds - Need to see Yeti one more time  I think I got on this at 8:15am on Sunday morning.  I'm usually in church at that time.
bulletBest of the dark rides - Peter Pan's Flight, Buzz Lightyear's Astro Blasters, and Winnie the Pooh (hey...I like the colors)  XX  Yes to Buzz - Yes to Pooh but No to Peter Pan.
bulletRoger Rabbit's Cartoon Spin - the only real grown-up type attraction in ToonTown  X   Rode this with Lisa. Again, spinning was kept to a minimum which is fine since you could actually looks at the scenes in ride for a change.
bulletDisneyland Railroad - Good transportation or just take a leisurely trip around the park X   Yes many full and partial trips for pleasure and transportation.
bulletLast but not least...for the very first time...Finding Nemo's Submarine Voyage  X   Got on this on Thursday night when the wait was only about 30 minutes.  It's a very good (but not great) attraction but far superior to the outdated submarine ride that closed in the 90's.  I probably would have tried to get on again but the wait times over the weekend were long even in the mornings.

Must do list (shows and attractions)

bulletPirates Lair (at Tom's Sawyer's Island) - same old island with new theming  X   Made the trip over to the island and really enjoyed the visit though that wooden bridge is a bit of challenge to cross for my old legs.
bulletJedi Training Academy - I don't know what this is about but who doesn't like Star Wars?  X    Saw the show from a perfect table and Eric got picked!  He is now a full fledged Jedi.
bulletHoney I Shrunk the Audience - starting to show its age but its still fun X   Hadn't seen it for quite awhile and got a few surprises.
bulletDisneyland the First 50 years.  I miss Abe but I also like Steve Martin and Donald Duck  ____  Didn't make this either :(
bulletFantasmic but the 4 hour wait may be over with the closing of the River Belle Terrace  ____  No Fantasmic this time around.  Not having seating at the River Belle Terrace was a huge hindrance.  Sitting at the River Belle Terrace waiting for Fantasmic I would be able to rest and recharge my batteries.  Without it, when the sun went down and I got tired, I started thinking about the hotel.
bulletFireworks - this is worth the wait  X   Sort of....Only watched them from the plaza area between the 2 parks.
bulletTiki Room - just for the sake of tradition  X   And had a pineapple float both times before the show.

Must do list (Food)

bulletPineapple Floats - you can't get too many of this treat    Twice
bulletFood on a Stick - Skewers from the Bengal Bar B Que - rumor has it that this may close in the future - get 'em while there still around X   The bacon wrapped asparagus may be the single best food item in the park.
bulletIf I win the the lotto between now and November - Blue Bayou  ____  Didn't win the lotto - didn't go.  Some day I'll make it back again.
bulletCorn Dog from the Main St cart  X  But it was more similiar to the corn dogs in DCA than I remember in terms of size and grease content.  Still for $5.80 it will fill you up.
bulletHungry Bear Restaurant - Disney food in a spacious and comfortable setting  X   They used to have a delicious Roast Beef sandwich here that was no longer available (it is in Tomorrowland).  Went with the bacon cheeseburger and once again was disappointed.  Disneyland snacks seem to work better than meals.

DAVE'S CALIFORNIA ADVENTURE CHECKLIST

Must do list (the rides)

bullet

Soarin' Over California - a great, great, ride  X  Even with a fast pass it seemed like a long wait but well worth it.

bullet

California Screamin' - so smooth - the Cadillac of Coasters  ____  No never made it over to that side of Paradise Pier.  It's the only thing over there that interests me until Toy Story Mania opens next year

bullet

Twilight Zone Tower of Tower - a thrill but it's over in a jiffy  X   Went with Lisa and it was her first "drop".  Not sure if she enjoyed the ride or just proud she survived.

bullet

Grizzly Rapids Run - I hope it isn't cold.  Do they have a lost and found?  Maybe I can find my hat  X   On a jammed packed Saturday the wait for this ride was 5 minutes.  You just can't pass something like that up.  But one trip an you realize why the wait was so short.  It's no fun getting drenched in November (but it will be a river trip to remember).

bullet

California Zephyr - I always walk on by, why not get on?  ____   Got close and looked at it but Lisa won't go on so I would have had to go by myself.  Not worth it.

bullet

Toy Story Mania - Oooops...that's next year  ____

Must do list (shows and attractions)

bullet

Aladdin - a wonderful way to spend 40 minutes  X   Just great and one of the highlights of the whole trip.

bullet

Muppets 4D - I love the Muppets and this show is rumored to be going away  X  Love the Muppets.  Saw it twice.

bullet

It's a Bug's Life - Fun with bugs  X   I'm not a huge fan of this show and Joseph certainly wasn't.

bullet

Turtle Talk with Crush - amazing - how do they do that?  ____  It was closed for the week :(

Must do list (Food)

bullet

Corn Dog Castle - not as good as the corn dogs in Disneyland but very big and with chips, its a meal, not to mention cardiac arrest  ____  The Disneyland corn dog was enough.

bullet

Ariel's Grotto - I think this where we're going for Rylie's birthday just stay away from the meat loaf    The food was expensive and disappointing for most everyone (although I had soup and a chicken caesar salad which was pretty OK) but Rylie and Megan loved the Princesses.

bullet

Churro - maybe even a strawberry one  X  Strawberry it seems is no longer available so we stuck with the traditional cinnamon.

bullet

Frozen Banana - it's sorta healthy I suppose  X   Love these things and had at least 3.
