Our Family of Knuckleheads

We all try to bring sanity to our lives.  In general, owning a cat is not the way to do it.  Owning 3 cats, while sometimes immensely entertaining, can really be a head-shaker on the only thing that comes to mind is "Knuckleheads" usually preceded by the words "knock it off...."

 

Here is a Kona - a real knucklehead.  In animal kingdom, surrendering yourself upside down is an act of submission.  Kona, especially when the weather gets hot, just likes to sleep that way.........When I go into the bathroom and shut the door, after about 10 seconds, there will be a gentle knock on the door.  Kona wants to get in.

         

         

 

Here is Herbie.  He has a touching story behind him (below) but after a few months of getting him back to health, he is now an official knucklehead.....When he walks into a room, he will sit down and look.......confused.  After Kona is in the bathroom with me, after about 5 more seconds, there will be a white and grey paw reaching under the door and then fun and swatting begins.

         

 

And then there's Bud, now about 14 years old.  Not so much a knucklehead anymore because she spends most of her time sleeping but when it comes time to eat she is an endless nag and whiner.....

And so the vet looked down on the little cat, petted him on the head, and said "You've had a pretty hard life, haven't you little one?".  Yes, he's a little unsteady as he walks and he cannot jump with his back legs most likely because he was either hit by a car or suffered from some sort of physical abuse.  He has has a BB lodged under his skin from being shot with the pellet gun.  There are assorted nicks and scabs from facing a hard life apparently on his own.  But he is very gentle and sweet and for me the title of that wonderful old book comes to mind, "All creatures great and small....the Lord God made them all."  We have a new addition to our family.
