Pulling
the Disney Trigger
In
a perfect world our next Disney trip was planned to be Disney World
December 2009. But in these troubled and unsettling times, the
world isn't perfect and so Lisa and I thought to ourselves "Why
not plan a trip to Disneyland now while we both have
time?". And so 5 days ago we decided to pull the Disney
trigger and plan a "modest" trip in November the week before
Thanksgiving.
We
are driving so we will leave on Sunday Novmber 16th. We will be
in the parks November 17th, 18th, and 19th, then drive back home on
the 20th.

Where
To Stay?
We
would always opt for a Disney Hotel if money were no object. Lisa
leans toward the venerable but dated Disneyland Hotel and if I had my
choice it would be the stately Grand Californian. The cost of
staying on those properties this time around is prohibitive. My
last two times to Disneyland, I've stayed at the Tropicana Inn &
Suites across from the Disneyland main entrance on Harbor Blvd.
It was decent, convenient, but certainly uninspiring. We were
researchng the Harbor Blvd. hotel row when we took a trip to the other
side of the street and found the Candy Cane Inn. tripadvisor.com
has this as one of the highest rated hotels in Anaheim beating out the
3 Disney hotels. It is small, quaint, beautifully landscaped,
and family owned priding themselves on cleanliness and customer
service. It costs a bit more than the Tropicana or Best Westerns
on the other side of the street but from almost all accounts, well
worth it. Tammy has stayed there and said it is great. These photos are from
tripadvisor.com and there
are over 600 reviews of the hotel.
