Things I Haven't Done
When Lisa and I went to Disneyland last November and December we made something of a conscious effort to do some of things we haven't done on past trips. We were able to do this simply because of the lack of crowds made getting on things fast and easy. You can also throw in a couple days of cold and rain which really keeps people out. So we were able to go on things like all the dark rides in Fantasyland, went up into Sleeping Beauty's Castle, went to Innoventions and seen Asimo the robot, ate the Wine Country Trattoria, French Market, and Carnation Cafe. Lisa even made took her first plunge on the Tower of Terror.
So with more than a dozen trips under our belts over the last 10 years or so, the question is "What Haven't I still done at Disneyland and California Adventure?" It should be mentioned that on the things mentioned below, I may have done them as child, but as of today, I have no recollection of their experience.
I have a confession to make. I have never been on Dumbo. I think this is ride is mostly for kids so I would feel silly as a single adult rider. When I go down with family, the kids all ride with their moms and dads. I would like to borrow a kid sometime but often time the line to get on Dumbo is prohibitive to ride twice in a row. And whatever I've said here can also be applied to the Dumbo counterpart in Tomorrowland, the Astro-Orbitor. Never been on that either. Feel sorry me.....
In Fantasyland, I've never been on King Arthur's Carousel because let's face it, it's still a merry-go-round. On Main Street, I've never taken a ride on a horse drawn carriage, fire engine, or double decker bus that run up and down the street in the mornings. (Again, I probably did as a child when these were the "A" ticket rides).
I still haven't eaten at the Plaza Inn, Red Rocket's Pizza Port, or Cafe Orleans (where I would love to get some of those pomm frittes).
In Frontierland, I haven't taken a shot at the Shooting Gallery mostly because I'm not a gun guy nor have I been to the Star Trader game center because time spent inside a video game establishment that is inside Disneyland is a colossal waste
And finally, there is the Gadget-Go-Coaster, a ride I just don't get. People spend 30 maybe 45 minutes to ride on a un-themed mini roller coaster that lasts maybe 40 seconds. Granted, for parents who want to give their kids their first roller coaster experience, it may have some value, but little else.
Oh, and I forgot to mention Autopia. Haven't been on it since I was a kid. I know how to drive. Besides the line is always so ridiculously long and it seems like a waste of a Fast Pass.
Over at Disney's California Adventure, I still have never been on the Golden Zephyr, mainly because I haven't found anyone interested enough to go with me. Lisa says it messes with her head. Others just find it kind of boring. Some day I just may have to go by myself.
I haven't been on Jumpin' Jellyfish either mainly because it's for kids. I have been on its adult counter part the Maliboomer because I'm a tough guy. Speaking of kids rides. I haven't been on any of the rides in It's Bugs Land - no Heimlich the train, no Flick's Flyers, no Tuck and Roll Buggies, no Ladybug Boogie again because, you really need a kid to go on these and not feel like an idiot. But mark my words, some day I will ride in a box of Chinese take out and ride on the train that talks with a weird voice. Also in the kids realm of rides & attractions, never been on King Triton's Carousel, which still is another merry-go-round and a lame one at that or walked through the Redwood Creek Challenge nor do I feel any need to.
Finally for the rides, I never went on the Orange Stinger when it was opened or plan to go on when it becomes Silly Symphony Swings mainly because spinning around in a circle on a swing just isn't my thing.....
As for the DCA restaurant's, I've pretty much touched them all except for the two ice cream places mainly because of my being semi-lactose intolerant. Me and ice cream often don't get along.
So not bad, there isn't much on this list that I am strongly compelled to do or feel I have missed out on. But in my future there will be a lunch at the Cafe Orleans. a spin on Dumbo, and a ride up Main Street on some kind of vehicle. Over at California Adventure I will take a spin on the Golden Zephyr some day along with a ride in a box of Chinese take out. And yes, and there is always Heimlich the train.
